It can be challenging for parents to feel like they are adequately supporting their child during the period of adolescence to adulthood.
At Restore Counseling, the primary focus is on establishing a trusting relationship with the client. After the relationship is stablished the focus is shifted to building confidence, and self-worth during this critical developmental stage that shapes one's self-perception for life.
Talking to your teen can be hard. Especially when you feel like you’re competing with electronics —social media — friends etc. So let me break through those challenges to see what’s going on with your kiddo and their mental health.

Welcome to Restore Counseling
Meet Dr. Aaron Beck “Beck”.
Dr. Beck is new to my practice, joining in April.
Dr. Beck is a miniature Goldendoodle. He is currently in training to become the best therapy dog there ever was.
But right now, he’s still in his residency. Beck loves kids - cuddles- walks- and toys. He is really good at adapting to the energy in the room, comforting you, and making you laugh.
I chose to get a therapy dog because the psychology and neuroscience behind animals, humans, and healing is incredible. Animals are smart creatures and they can help calm our bodies during times of great stress and trauma. Not everyone has a pup, which is why therapy with one is next level in terms of healing.
Another great reason for a therapy dog, he’s a great ice-breaker. Going to therapy can be scary. You are expected to go into someone’s office that you don’t know and tell them every detail about your life— yikes!
But, when you walk in and there is a dog…everyone’s attention is on him— which takes the pressure off of you. I understand that dogs aren’t for everyone. So, if you would rather not have Dr. Beck in your session, don’t hesitate to let me know. I can leave him at home with my kiddos for a much deserved vacation day for Dr. Beck.
There is no nurse to call to come take your teenager to the nursery to give you a break. There are no directions on what to do when your child refuses to communicate with you.
Take a breath - take a break - let me help.
